Nike Run Club: get a run out as GPX, and get it to Strava

Nike Run Club has no export button. What works instead: the Strava connection for new runs, RunGap and similar apps that read the runs through Apple Health, and the community tools that pull the whole history out as GPX.

Nike Run Club records the route of every outdoor run and gives you no button to get it out. There is no *Export GPX* anywhere in the app. What exists instead is a sync, a side door through Apple Health, and a set of community tools that read Nike's own service. Which one you need depends on whether the run is in the future or the past.

New runs: connect Strava

For runs from today onwards, the simplest route is the Strava connection: Strava can be connected to Nike Run Club, and runs sync to Strava as they happen. Once a run is on Strava, the GPX is one click away on the website — export a GPX from Strava. The catch, reported consistently by people who have done it: the connection only carries runs forward from the day you connect. The history stays where it is.

Past runs on iPhone: Apple Health

Nike Run Club can write its workouts to Apple Health, routes included. Apps that read Health can then export them as GPX or FIT: RunGap, HealthFit and WorkOutDoors all do it, and RunGap also sends runs straight to Strava. Apple Watch workouts to GPX walks through that side, and it is the same for a run recorded on the phone. Check Nike Run Club's settings for Health first; a run that was never written to Health cannot be read from it.

The whole history: community tools

For years of runs, people use tools that log in to Nike's service and download every run as GPX: nrc-exporter (a Python tool) and nrc2strava are the two that come up, and both are open source on GitHub. They need a computer and a little comfort with a command line, and they need your Nike login. Read what a tool does before giving it that. The result is one GPX per run, which you upload to Strava in batches (how) or keep.

What the file has

A GPX from any of these routes carries the route, elevation and time, and heart rate if the run had it. Pace on the print is computed from those. What Nike's own screen shows — the guided run, the coach — is not in the file, and does not need to be.

Then what

Any GPX, FIT or TCX opens in the viewer to check it, uploads to Strava (how), and goes into the editor to become a print of the route with the numbers from the file. The other watches and apps are in the device guides.

Questions people actually ask

Can I export Nike Run Club data?
Not with a button in the app — Nike Run Club has no file export. The runs can be read out through Apple Health by apps like RunGap on iPhone, or pulled from Nike's servers by community tools like nrc-exporter, which write GPX files.
Does Nike Run Club connect to Strava?
Yes, and that is the easy path for new runs: connect Strava to Nike Run Club and runs sync forward from the day you connect. Runs from before that do not come across; they need one of the export routes in this guide.
How do I get my old Nike Run Club runs into Strava?
With a tool that reads the history: RunGap (iPhone) reads the runs from Apple Health and sends them on; nrc-exporter and similar community tools log in to Nike's service and write one GPX per run. Then upload the GPX files to Strava on the website.
How do I get a GPX from Nike Run Club on iPhone?
Make sure Nike Run Club writes workouts to Apple Health, then use an app that exports Health workouts as GPX — RunGap, HealthFit or WorkOutDoors. The route is in Health if the run was recorded with GPS.
